JEWELRY CARE
Over time, sterling silver will begin to tarnish, meaning it will turn to a golden or black hue due to oxidation. To prevent this, you can use a polishing cloth or silver cleaning dip. Either sterling or gold can be dipped but not all gems/stones will hold up to the cleaning agents. Some stones, such as opals or pearls are porous and will take the chemicals in, dulling their shine and changing the color.
For certain items with stones which can't be dipped, but have areas unreachable with a polishing cloth, we recommend using a cotton swab with some of the dip on it so it can be more precisely applied to the small tarnished area.
If you need your own polishing cloth or silver dip, we sell them in-store at Silver Parrot, 1475 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.
